The melt deformer has no cyan bounding box. The recipient object melts radially from the deformer’s origin. Drag the orange handle to control the state of the melt deformation interactively in the viewport.

The recipient object will melt onto the Y plane of the deformer’s origin. Consequently, the melt deformer is usually placed at the bottom of the recipient object. Any part of the original object below the deformer’s XZ plane will be truncated.
