Here's a 1 hour 35 minute tutorial on how to model rounded style Dice using Subdivision surfaces. Although the tutorial is recorded using R16, users of earlier versions will be able to follow along as none of the newer modelling tools are used. At the end of the tutorial there's a section on applying materials. Because of the changes to the material system in R16 I show doing the materials in both R15 and R16. Only very simple materials are used as this is a modelling tutorial.
