Here you can pass the polygon geometry into the Node whose points, edges or surfaces you want to extrude. To extrude splines, you can use the Extrude Line Node.

If you don’t want to extrude all of a geometry’s elements, you can create a selection whose points, edges or polygons should be used. An Index Array From String Node can be used in conjunction with this where you can enter the indices of the points, edges or polygons to be extruded. Alternatively, the Extrude function also automatically uses a selection from an Active Selection Node in the event no Selection has been linked to the Node.

This setting can be used if not all extruded elements should have the same Offset. Offset Variation defines the maximum divergence from the Offset value as percentage. This setting can be used to define the subdivision of edges or polygons along the Offset extrusion.

If Per Step is enabled, the number of subdivisions will be used as a multiplier for the Offset value. The extruded elements will be moved correspondingly further. When extruding points, the Subdivision value defines the number of additional subdivisions for each surface bordering that point.

Enable this option if you want the extrusion to automatically be calculated as often as defined by the Subdivision value. The actual distance that the elements will be moved will be a result of the multiplication of the Offset and Subdivision values. This function is not available for the extrusion of points.

If this option is enabled, additional polygons created via the Subdivision setting will be grouped into an N-Gon for each extruded edge. If Mode is set to Point, only the edges bordering on the original point used will be grouped.

When polygons are extruded, all polygons will be handled individually. On curved surfaces, the extruded polygons will separate and will act as protrusions. If the extruded polygons should remain connected to the neighboring polygons, the Use Islands option should be enabled. The Max Angle setting can be used to define the angle at which neighboring surfaces are allowed to extrude separately.

When polygons are extruded, the original surfaces are normally deleted. This results in a type of open box being created where the opening is where the extruded polygon lies. If you want to keep the original polygon, you can enable the Create Caps option. This can, for example, be useful when working with very thin shapes such as a plane in order to give it a certain thickness.
