Here you will find various previews that let you check the effect of a Material Node and its effect on the overall material. The Node Preview area shows the result of the Node’s effect. This can, for example, be a noise pattern for a self-generating Node. Other Nodes require input in order to produce a result. For such Nodes, the Node Preview will display what the Node calculated using the input information. The Material Preview displays the material that is produced in the end. Both the effect of the Node or the result of its calculation and the effect this Node chain has on the final material can be compared with each other.

Right-click on the Preview to change its size – ranging from small to huge. Note, however, that a larger Preview also takes longer to update. In the same context menu you will also find the Preview HUD option, which can be used to enable or disable the HUD display text for the Preview. The left Preview shows the Node and the material is shown at the right.

The Preview of Material Nodes can also be defined globally via the Preferences menu’s Material menu.
